Not all big name companies are the cold, heartless stereotypes. Melted Heart tells the stories of fashion that touches lives.
Hey everyone it's Aphrodite though my actual name is Elizabeth. I am the editor of Melted Heart. Please enjoy reading what I write. Love, Aphrodite! <3
Because Who is Perfect?
Recently, Modissa put some new mannequins in their window. Modissa is a family owned company born in Switzerland. They have tons of different brands in there stores and AMAZING fashion trend reports on their website. Normally, walking down Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, Switzerland, in the Christmas season, you would be staring at the dazzling display of lights and the wonderful window displays of fashion. With over 90 stores, you can't miss it! This year though, Modissa and Alain Gsponer worked together to do something miraculously unique.
Alain Gsponer the director was intended to remind us that disabled people are just like the rest of us, but with extra challenges to over come. The models for this were; Jasmin Rechsteiner, Alex Oberholzer, Urs Kolly, Nadja Schimid, and Erwin Aljukic. The volunteers to see mannequins designed to look like themselves and other people reacting to the out of the ordinary figures in the display windows.
So as you can see, just because someone has a disability and looks different doesn't mean they're not like us. These volunteers have some extra challenges to go through, especially when people that don't have a disability make fun of them. ( Which is NOT very nice). These people probably don't even care how other people look at them because, deep down, they know that they are unique in their own special way. Miss. Rechsteiner's disability is Kyphoscoliosis, a multiple deformation of the spine. Which makes her look weird to mean people, but I think she is just plain beautiful. Alex Oberholzer has Polio highly contagious viral infection that can lead to paralysis, breathing problems, and death. He is currently a successful film critic and radio personality.
Urs Kolly lost his lower right leg in an accident. There are many people who have lost the same thing Urs Kolly did, but there is nothing different about Urs. Sure he lost his lower right leg, but does that mean you have the right to ignore or be mean to people like him? No it does NOT!
Nadja Schimid has ogential spinal muscular atrophy, but if you overlook her disease, in my opinion, she could be a model!
Erwin Aljukic has brittle bone disease. Erwin is a successful actor and was seen in the 2006 comedy film,
"Where is Fred."
So treat people the way you would want to be treated and try to do something nice for somebody with a disability. <3
